Publication: Periodical v. Monograph Press

In the Romantic period, works of literature were often disseminated through periodical presses as well as in monograph (book) style publication. Such was the case for Hemans’ “The Image in Lava”, which was was published both in The New Monthly Magazine and Literary Journal (1827) and in the poetry collection Records of Woman (1828). This appendix presents page facsimiles from both of the versions — facilitating comparative analysis of both publications.
